The Site Direct Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) Fence is a highly visible exclusion barrier that safeguards trees and vegetation during construction, civil works and land development. Sturdy steel mesh on star pickets with safety caps keeps heavy machinery, vehicles and stored materials clear of root systems, trunks and branches, giving you a straightforward, compliant way to satisfy arborist reports, council conditions and AS 4970 tree protection obligations before the first shovel hits the ground.

How to Size Your TPZ Fence
Undersized exclusion zones are a common reason for failed council inspections. To work out how far your fence should sit from the tree:
- Measure the trunk circumference at 1.4m above ground level (the Diameter at Standard Height, or DSH).
- Divide the circumference by Pi (3.14) to get the trunk diameter.
- Multiply the diameter by 12 to get your TPZ radius, the minimum distance the fence should sit from the tree.
Example: a trunk with a 150cm circumference has a diameter of 31.85cm (150 ÷ 3.14). Multiplied by 12, that is a TPZ radius of 382cm, so the fence should sit at least 3.82m from the tree. Some councils set their own minimum or maximum TPZ distances, so always confirm local requirements before installing.
