In late 2016 the Gold Coast Titans unveiled their purpose-built training and administration centre at Parkwood. Known as the High Performance Centre, the facility is a good example of how modern sporting infrastructure comes together — and of how the temporary equipment that supported the build laid the groundwork for the permanent facility behind it.
The HPC gave the Titans a state-of-the-art training facility with the kind of features that lift on-field and off-field performance. Beyond the immediate benefit for players and staff at Parkwood, members, sponsors, and corporate partners all benefit from access to the centre.
The development delivered a modern office environment for Titans and Parkwood staff, indoor training courts, aqua therapy, a fully equipped gym, an altitude chamber, and quality change-room facilities. The HPC also includes a large indoor sports centre and a 25-metre, three-lane lap pool that supports learn-to-swim classes alongside separate hydrotherapy baths.
Industry observation
Projects like the HPC are a useful reference for the temporary fencing industry. A major facility build needs strong perimeter security through construction and a clean handover when the permanent facility opens. The equipment used during the build — fencing, hoarding, barriers — has to perform reliably while the public infrastructure around it continues to operate.
Site Direct's perspective on the broader sporting and community infrastructure landscape is shaped by examples like this one. Quality facilities require quality construction practices, and the temporary equipment that supports those builds is an under-appreciated part of the picture.
